[Bug 46997] Kubuntu lockups with PS2 mouse or Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0

There isn't much to reproduce this random problem.  One minute the mouse
works fine no matter what application.  The next minute the entire
operating system locks up forcing a hard reset to get back to work.
I've notice the same issue in Suse 10.1 and Fedora Core 5 as well.  Most
lockups happen in FireFox browser, Swiftfox browser, Frostwire, and
various other apps.  This is NOT an application specific issue.  Not
certain what may be causing this as no errors are shown before the
lockups.

I'm running the most current kernel (2.6.15-23).  System configuration
is MSI K7N2 Delta2 motherboard with one gigabyte of ram, two hard disks
(primary Windows XP and secondary Kubuntu Dapper-Drake), currently wired
two button mouse (was running Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0 with
scroll wheel), ATI 7000 video, and Sound Blaster Live 5.1.
