This also affects hibernation on my Sony Vaio - it never powers off. I
left it for about 20 minutes after initiating hibernation - it had the
screen off and seemed to stop any activity but was still on. I powered
it off manually then, and on booting again it appeared to resume
correctly from hibernation.
