[Bug 45344] Trying to configure wireless using graphics freezes machine

Public bug reported:

 RaLink RT2500 wireless on my Averatec 3715 using Dapper flight 7.

Note: 5.x live did not have this problem.

The device appears as ra0, and I can do ifconfig and iwconfig and see
it.  I have not tried setting anything.

When I'm in the Networking panel from the system menu, and click
preferences for this device, it brings up the pane that includes
password, etc for the wireless.  A ppp modem and ethernet interface work
fine.

Within 2 seconds of clicking "enable this interface", the system freezes
- no mouse (the cursor is frozen), no keyboard.  I have to do a hard
reset.
