This bug can now be closed.

I performed a BIOS upgrade, and suddenly the soundcard appeared.
Apparently the previous version was disabling the internal sound if a
PCI soundcard was detected, which was exactly my situation. The newer
BIOS version allows both to work at once.

Apologies for jumping to the wrong conclusion and wasting people's time.
