[Bug 40947] Breezy: Install and Live DVD boot hang on "Running /etc/hotplug/usb.rc"

Public bug reported:


Finally decided to dump Mandriva in favour of Ubuntu, but when I boot the 5.10 Live DVD to either "Install" or simply "Live DVD", it always hangs at:

Running /etc/hotplug/usb.rc

On the screen are many messages about ohci-hid and ehci-hcd and ohci1394
being loaded successfully.

I unplugged all USB devices, hubs, etc. but the results were always the
same.

Booting back into Mandriva, here's what lspci and dmesg say:
