Ok, I FINALLY isolated this issue. It appears to have something to do
with the xorg ati driver. Once I switched to the vesa driver, my system
stopped crashing and all runs stable (except for the vesa slowness). Is
there something more I can provide to get to the bottom of this issue
now that its a bit more narrowed down? My video card is a radeon 9500
and I am using the default ati drivers, not the commercial ones. I
haven't tried the commercial ones yet. If there is any more debugging
info I can provide, please let me know, I don't know where to start.
