Public bug reported:

Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Major
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
This has been reported in forums:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=88358
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=93908

and this is how one guys "solved" it:
http://www.stillhq.com/diary/toys/dell/e310/

The ubuntu installer (or live CD) fails to boot on Dell Dimension
E310/3100. Although the kernel itself boots, the init script later
hangs, after reporting:

uhci_hcd 0000:00:1d.1: host controller process error, something bad happened!
uhci_hcd 0000:00:1d.1: host controller halted, very bad!

It seems that the problem is with the onboard USB controller.

The same hardware boots successfully with Knoppix 2.6. Also, if I
compile my own (very minimal) kernel the system boots ok.

After booting with Knoppix, from the output of lspci, the USB controller
on the machine is a 82801FB/FM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family).

Four UHCI controllers are successfully detected:

0000:00.1d.0 -> UHCI #1
0000:00.1d.1 -> UHCI #2
0000:00.1d.2 -> UHCI #3
0000:00.1d.3 -> UHCI #4

The problem appears with Breezy as well as older Ubuntu version, and
also in Debian installer.
