i'm experiencing a weird problem with software suspend. everything was fine until the time of acpi-support version 0.70 or 0.71 (sorry cant be more accurate as i dont remember). 
Now software (as of today i'm still experiencing this problem) suspend is iniatially working when tried the first time after a reboot. The second attempt only leads to a short blinking of the screen and no suspend. the third desn't do anything visible . When i try to shutdown the machine suspends while shutting down. Waking up the laptop will cause the machine to complete the shutdown. 

this is fully reproducible. sometimes there is a kernel oops after first
