Public bug reported:
Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu)
Severity: Normal
Priority: (none set)
Status: Unconfirmed
Description:
3G high-speed cellular wireless cards, such as the internal 5720 and
PCMCIA 5740 for Verizon Wireless, can be supported under Breezy and
Dapper. However without an MTU patch raising the minimum size of MTU in
the kernel, speeds are limited to 109Kbps or so. With the MTU patch,
which is too complex for me to do, speeds of >1Mbps are possible and
routine speeds of 600kbps are easily attained. Because most new business
laptops from Lenovo, HP, Dell and others have or will very soon have
these internal cards, I think the community would be very well served if
this patch could be included in the Dapper kernel or at least a how-to
posted. I'd be willing to write the how-to if an engineer or programmer
were to work with me on the procedures. Information is available here:
http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/library/l-hisock.html
and I can find more if anyone needs help locating more specific
information. Thanks in advance
