I have the same problem with my Netopia USB wireless stick.
It did find my wireless router, but couldn't connect. when doing it manually through the networking setup in gnome or kde my system hangs up.
I've then put the information in the interfaces file and my system starts up fine with internet access.
After a while I've no more connection, even though I still have an IP. To prevent system freezes I also do unplug un replug the stick to get access again.
I really hope they will fix it asap as it's not very funny to always replug and wait till connection is back. :-)
