Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/37145
Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 kernel-image-2.6.15-19-386-di (Ubuntu)
Severity: Normal
Priority: (none set)
Status: Unconfirmed
Description:
I have tried Dapper Flight CD5 install disk on a new system at work.
Graphics card is not shown in "lspci" at all, so I can't even use "vga"
or "vesa" drivers in xorg.conf. Passing "vga=0x317" via kernel boot line
works, but I still can't get into X with any of the drivers.
Windows identifies the device with PCI ID 1106 (vendor) and 3344
(device), which turns out to be: P4M800Pro or VN800 or K8N800 VIA
chipset.
Note that I have tried with both "via" drivers from unichrome.sf.net and
openchrome.org, but neither works. This probably makes sense, since for
everybody else reporting bugs about it, this card is at least listed in
"lspci".
Also, I have tried Ubuntu Hoary (5.04) live CD using 2.6.10-5-i386, and
this worked for me with "vesa" driver (however, /proc/bus/pci/devices
was empty there, so I couldn't see if this was due to "lspci" showing,
or just "vesa" driver falling-back to int10 interface).
