thanks colin - there is definately a kernal bug though it has existed right through from 5.10 to this Flight 5.

Flight 5 solved the issues with the HD controller as the HD light on my machine was constantly on however the CPU issue remains. 

If you require more info tell me what you need and how i can get it for you (not new to linux but not that advanced)
