I'm sorry but I'll have to close this.
There is always a risk that patches break compilation, even well-known patch like -rt sometimes.
In this case, you might have applied the patch for the wrong kernel version.
In the end, this is not an Ubuntu bug, becase badram is not provided by Ubuntu.
You still have the options to build a 2.6.16 kernel yourself, or use that patch that was recommended on the forum
