Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/35993

Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Hi, I am upgrading an old installation of Suse Desktyop 1.0 to ubuntu. I
used Dapper Test Flight 5, then upgraded to the latest components.

I have installed the machine yesterday and have seen 2 hangs already.
The machine is not in daily use yet (I am just copying files to it).

The hangs happened in the following way: I come back to the machine to
check the status of the file copying (7G file). The screen saver
disappears; the screen keyboard and mouse are responsive. About 10-20
seconds later, the mouse and screen become unresponsive. The keyboard is
still half responsive (CAPS LOCK works). But this doesn t last, and 30
seconds later; nothing works (only the eject CD button works). I have to
reboot the machine by keeping the power on button pressed.

Nothing appears in the logs (syslog or other). Very strange.

I am a little bit at a loss as to how investigate the issue apart from
using the serial port... And I cannot do this right now.

When using the test Flight 4 live CD, I also had a hang. Not sure if it
was similar.

The machine is to become a test machine for the partial upgrade of the
site to Ubuntu. I hope that we can solve this issue. Let me know what to
do.

I will set up ssh and next time it hangs, I will try remote logging into the box, just in case. I am attaching the hardware config.
