Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/35651

Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
After upgrading from Breezy to Dapper today, the new kernel could not
boot my system. In recovery mode, the last lines are:

---------

[...] hda: Maxtor 6Y120p0, ATA DISK drive
[...] hdb: WDC AC28400R, ATA DISK drive
[...] hdc: ASUS CRW-5232AS, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive
[...] ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7, 0x3f6 on irq 14
[...] ide1 at 0x170-0x177, 0x376 on irq 14
Done.
Mounting root file system... ...
Running /scripts/local-top ...
Done.
ALERT! /dev/hda1 does not exist. Dropping to a shell

---------

This is 2.6.15-18-k7 on an ASUS NForce2 Athlon system. The 386 version
of the same kernel boots fine, and so do 2.6.12-x-k7 and 2.6.10-x-k7
kernels. Oh, /dev/hda1 is an ext3 filesystem.

In another bug report the ide=reverse option was suggested by Ben
Collins, but it didn't make any difference.
