Anyways, it would appear that this is resolved with the 2.6.16 kernels;
or atleast Suse's 2.6.16 kernel, which is what I tested with. While it's
too late for 2.6.16 to be included in dapper, maybe it would be possible
to backport a patch from either Suse, or from upstream.

Like I said, I only tested with the kernel provided by suse (via a net
install iso), so I don't know if this was resolved upstream, or is fixed
by a patch from the suse guys.
