I'll start from the back front.

it can read content on the dvd, not just all the content, any after the
"limit" doesn't read, this isn't an overburned DVD (and in truth is
probably a couple hundred MB under the natural limit) and it works fine
in my NEC drive in my windows desktop and my crappy burner in my linux
desktop.

I need to reboot my laptop into windows to see if it works fine in
windows w/ the dvd drive (if not, then it can be blamed on hardware)
