Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34645
Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 linux-image-2.6.15-18-k7 (Ubuntu)
Severity: Normal
Priority: (none set)
Status: Unconfirmed
Description:
I have an NVIDIA nForce4 motherboard with an ALC880 sound engine, which
uses the snd_hda_intel driver.
There is a ton of static on the sound output. I've checked the sound
plugs and they're correct. I've reduced all of the ALSA mixer levels to
even as low as 10% and still have the static.
Using an add-on emu10k1-based SB Live! card, I don't hear any static at
all.
This happens both with the k7 kernel on Ubuntu/x86 and with the amd64
kernel on Ubuntu/amd64.
