I'm running  2.6.15-17.26 on an iBook G4 (PowerBook6,5) and sound is
working OK now, up to and including the Fn F3/F4/F5 keys to change
volume.

However, I needed to go into the Volume Control and untick 'DRC' in
order to get any noticable volume whatsoever. DRC is an option you need
to enable in the Volume Control Prefernces first. That might be
something to have unticked by default, if possible.
