This problem seems to persist.

I upgraded to kernel 2.6.15-16, but I still get the "ata2: command 0xa0
timeout, stat 0xd0 host_stat 0x60" error.

However! I downloaded the kernel sources and played around a bit. It
seems that setting "atapi_enabled" to 1 in libata.h solves the problem.
I can access the dvd-burner now.
