[Bug 33704] Hang on dapper amd64 livecd with ATI RS480 chipset

Description:
I get a hang after 'io scheduler cfq registered', it sounds almost exactly like the bug described at:
  http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6011
  (found via http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119978)

This is using the Kubuntu Dapper flight 4 livecd (and the same happens
with the install cd). I'm afraid I'm unable to compile a new kernel to
try out the patch at the moment.
