The problem mostly solved with newer Dapper kernels/modules. Current
status is:

- Hibernation works correctly

- /usr/sbin/pmi reports:
$ pmi capabilities
hibernate

- Suspend mostly works (through pmi action suspend), except that after
wake-up, screen back-light is off making it almost unreadable. Do not
have a solution for this yet, but rebooting.

It seems to me that closing this bug makes sense, and maybe open a new
bug related to the laptop chipset and graphics card:

Chipset: Intel 915 GM / ICH6-M, Graphics: Intel GMA 900
