[Bug 50709] Problems with ACPI in Dapper on Fujitsu-Siemens laptop.

My laptop is:

I've upgraded my system from Breezy to Dapper.
At first I thought it doesn't boot. It does, though it takes 4 minutes to mount the root file system!
Last message it displays is:
ACPI: bus type scsi registered
And then we wait.

When system finally boots I'm able to log into gnome. Unfortunately system feels sluggish and unresponsive.
Also I got a gnome error message that HAL could not be initialized.

Booting from Breezy kernel went fine besides wireless (but thats other
story).

I googled about this and tried passing to kernel various options in various combinations:
noapic, nolapic, acpi=off, noacpi, pci=noacpi, pci=assign-busses, pci=routeirq, pci=bios, acpi=strict, acpi=noirq, irqpoll, routeirq, pci=biosirq, pci=nosort

Only acpi=off works. With this option system boots normally and is quite
snappy.

Actually noapic, nolapic and acpi=noirq caused kernel panic.

One more issue that is related is that when I put a CD or DVD into my
DVD drive it mounts very slowly. And I get two icons on the desktop.
When I click unmount in one of them the disk is removed but the second
icon remains. This is with acpi=off cause that's where HAL worked.

I know it's related. Because I managed to solve the issue.

I compiled 2.6.16 kernel from kernel.org with ck12 patches. I used Dappers 2.6.15 .config with slight modifications.
I followed this guide: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=157560&highlight=compile+2.6.16

With this kernel everything works fine. No problem with booting. ACPI
works fine (well hibernate and suspend have problems but that was also
true for Breezy - so at least no regression). No Problem with CDs.

So either this is upstream bug and got fixed in 2.6.16 or it's Ubuntu
specific. When I'll find some time I'll try to compile vanilla 2.6.15
and let you know.
