Public bug reported:
Since upgrading to dapper, X11 is extremly slow. If I scroll a manual
page in a 95x34 gnome-terminal, this takes 100% CPU and is still not
smooth at all but "jumps" about 4 lines at once. Also the key repeat
rate is usually very slow, although I set it to maximum. However, from
time to time it increases to a normal value for a moment. Similar
problems arise in emacs and firefox. Maybe the whole phenomeon is best
described as if X11 is mostly funneled through a 33.6 modem connection.
In Breezy everything worked smoothly. I have a Dell Latitude D810 1.7
Ghz with ATI M300 (using xorg driver).
** Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu)
Importance: Untriaged
Status: Unconfirmed
