Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: linux-686
I have a server system that started as Hoary and has been upgraded to
Breezy and then Dapper. Somewhere along the way, the linux-386/686
package was uninstalled or missed. When I did the dist-upgrade to
Dapper, the Dapper 2.6.15 kernel packages were not installed and the old
2.6.12 package was used. This caused the following problem with my
printer:
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/cupsys/+bug/49802
This was resolved by installing the proper linux-image packages. The
ubuntu system package, be it ubuntu-desktop/-minimal/-standard etc,
should require that the proper kernel for that version be installed. If
it is not installed, include it in the dist-upgrade.
** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu)
Importance: Untriaged
Status: Unconfirmed
