This issue still exists in Xubuntu Dapper PPC (desktop version).
According to Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh at kernel.crashing.org>  this
issue should have been sussed by now.  Is Ubuntu asleep at the wheel,
not supporting the PPC platform any more or all of the above? This has
been sorted in Fedora Core 5 PPC, but I would rather use
Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Xubuntu.
