[Bug 49828] irda does not work

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.15

It worked in warty/hoary/breezy. I have irda-utils enabled on startup,
irda modules are loaded (irda,ircomm_tty,ircomm,irtty_sir,sir_dev).

irdadump produces nothing

cat  /proc/net/irda/discovery produces the following:
