[Bug 49070] Hangs on Mounting root file system

Public bug reported:

I know this has been discussed before but no one had the exact same
problem as i did so there for didnt have the same answers.

When i select enter to "Start Ubuntu". The system displays "Loading
essential drivers" and then stalls on the next line, "Mounting root
filesystem..."

Eventually, the splash screen disappears, and following is displayed:

Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel.
<3>ata1: command 0xa0 timeout, stat 0x5a host_stat 0x0
[4294905.575000] ata1: command 0x25 timeout, stat 0x50 host_stat 0x64......

and it keeps going with lines of text similar to that.
