I too had the problem with 2.6.20 kernel which was there during
installation in my laptop. Then I updated the kernel to 2.6.23 and still
the sound (both speakers and headphones) is not working. I hope the bug
gets fixed quickly so we can enjoy the best of ubuntu in our laptops :)
