Yes.

In fact, it also works on the same machine under W98SE (it's a dual boot
machine), where I do an additional file by file comparison at the
moment.

It is most likely not a coincident that this problems occurs with images
> 4 GB, and limit mentioned in the log file is.... 4 GB

I presume that K3B uses a more direct API without this limitation.
