Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.15-23-amd64-generic
Hi,
Please can we sort this out. Since the hoary i have had to submit a bug
about the isdn capabilities of Ubuntu. Dapper release seems no
different. I looked at my previous bug and saw that some of them were
unassigned?
Anyway, a fresh install of dapper release with a Winbond w6692 card
installed and isdnutils-base comes up with errors:

Please note the line that mentions an error in stack.c
I had this problem in dapper flight 6 with an upgraded kernel image, but not with the original image on the CD ISO.
The winbond card is loaded with "modprobe hisax type=36 protocol=2" and
seems to be one of the only linux supported isdn cards in South Africa
(Most isdn connections are external TA's which don't work like Duxbury
TA's). after a fresh install as per above, the modprobe command reveals
that no such device exists. As I know it does I looked into the mISDN
modules and found that w6692pci (a new addition?) has been loaded. I
have read that this is possibly buggy.
WORKAROUND (BUT NOT A CURE - PLEASE FIX, I'LL SUBMIT ANY ADDITIONAL
INFORMATION):
rmmod w6692pci
rmmod hisax
modprobe hisax type=36 protocol=2
/etc/init.d/isdnutils restart
This is best done in a script in /etc/init.d, all works well.
CONCLUSION: Since mISDN seems to load the w6692pci module and the error
is in stack.c of mISDN, it seems as if w6692pci module is buggy. Hisax
works fine for the w6692 cards.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help resolve the
ISDN problems once and for all.
PS: why does "System/Networking" not pick up ISDN connections or for
that matter CAPI enabled ppp connections?
Thanks,
Danson
