[Bug 53757] Slow 2D graphics and high CPU usage when idle

When using the above kernel, 2D graphics in X lag considerably. E.g.,
the fading in xscreensaver is much slower than it should be. However, 3D
accelerated graphics were not apparently affected. In all cases with X,
the fglrx driver was used. Also, CPU usage is anywhere from about 30--
60% even when idle.

The solution was to downgrade to the equivalent -386 kernel. Now the
graphics no longer lag, CPU usage is only a few percent when idle, and
the booting process is noticeably quicker.

This bug seems to also affect linux-image-2.6.15-25-686. I am not sure
what the earliest kernel image is that is affected, but I did not notice
these problems until recently.
