[Bug 53492] Booting w/new kernel impossible

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6-386

Latest update for linux-image-2.6-386, installed 060718, loks up the box
rather than booting.  It barely gets the parameters before doing so.
Frame buffering never happens.  This has happened three consecutive
attempts.

Prior kernel boots w/o incident.
