thinkpad T40p with ubuntu 2.6.15-25 kernel, I get this for all usb2 devices
(e.g. switch, dvd writer, logitech quickcam etc.).

this could be kernel bug 6078 which was fixed in 2.6.16. prior to installind ubuntu dapper I ran
debian sarge with kernels compiled on my own, and I did have the same problem with earlier
kernels, but not with 2.6.16.*.
