Some more info, hope it will be useful :

* Installed Debian sarge, with a 2.4.27-1-386, communication with USB
and PCI works fine.

* In the cases where it doesn't work, I can stay disconnected (so no
communication with the PCI ethernet card, just ifdown it) and everything
works fine. It is only when I begin to use the network that USB and PCI
communications freeze.
