Dapper is showing a completely different problem for you (oopses)

Try disabling the ehci_hcd by doing:

echo blacklist ehci_hcd > /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.ehci
update-initramfs -u

Then reboot. The drive will be slower, but it should work.
