I'm also hit by this bug on 2.6.15-16-686. I'd like to add that this
didn't occur on 2.6.15-15-686 and that I now get some messages  like
this:

Besides this, there was another change for me between the 15 and 16
revision that I'm going to talk about here because it might be related
(and I dont' want to add clutter to malone :-)

The speaker beep is gone (it's not that big deal but it is a regression
anyway).
