Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/31903

Affects: linux-source-2.6.12 linux-image-2.6.12-10-386 (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Hi,

I'm not sure if the package name is correct. Sorry for that.

Yesterday (17.02.06) the automatic update notified me that there are
some updates for my packages available.

After installing the update I was told, that I should reboot because of
changes to the kernel.

After the reboot my system failed to start because grub couldnĀ“t find
the kernel-image.

My constalation is a little bit unusual:
2 hdds
xosl Bootloader and WinXP installed on hd0
grub and ubuntu 5.10 installed on hd1

the xosl loads the mbr of hd1 and grub starts (so I had to edit the menu.lst to tell grub not to boot from hd0
--> root            (hd1,0)

After the update yesterday all entrys in my menu.lst where reverted to:
root (hd0,0)

for me that was not a problem but I think there could be some people out
there with grub not installed in the mbr of the first hdd who do not
know what to do.

greetings from germany
