[Bug 30153] IBM X31 freeze under X, shortly after boot

bug comes many times after login, i've just hit it one time when gdm
appears.

* single user mode seems OK : after boot, i connected a 120Go usb2 disk, made a find /media, played with cacademo, the machine seems stable (uptime 15min).
* disabled gdm in /etc/rc2.d and continued boot (Ctrol-D in s-u mode) : the machine seems stable too.
* starting gdm manually, i can't encounter the bug (machine is stable, playing video, stressing the HDD...)

rebooting in m-u mode, starting gdm manually, the machine won't freeze.

rebooting in m-u with gdm autostarted, i can't make the machine freeze,
even stressing it with apt-rdepends|graphviz...

But it freezed one our ago... Sorry, i can't reproduce this bug for now.
I will add a comment if it happens again. i will follow the advice in
the link you posted.
