Toshiba A105-S2716 here...

I had always had the problem since Dapper and now Edgy. It is not
random, it always hangs.

What few people have mentioned though, at least with my system
Hibernation and Suspend work flawlessly, at least at turning the power
off. I do not know if this could be helpful, but if Suspend can turn it
off, why can't Shutdown?
