I am running on Edgy and still encountering the same bug. 
And forget about Vesa on Edgy, it is really slow (the release notes mention that it is unaccelerated and should only be used for troubleshooting purposes)

However, I found a forum entry which helps me, no crashes after 4 days (I am running on Edgy).
