My situation: I have a NVidia card and atheros wlan card. I need to manually upgrade madwifi to madwifi-ng, because madwifi doesn't support my card. But this breaks the package, and after reinstall/upgrade of kernel-restricted-modules I have to reinstall madwifi-ng. Ugly!
Solution #1: split up linux-restricted-modules
Solution #2: switch to madwifi-ng drivers by default :-)
