This seems to require CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_DEBUG=y to be set.

When I tested with older kernels, the module parameter relaxed_check=1 for speedstep-lib was necessary for speedstep-smi to load. It had no effect without debugging activated.

However, I just tested this with 2.6.15-21.32 source package, and I did not have to give this module parameter at all. The debugging option itself was enough.

Maybe one might set CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_DEBUG=y, or are there any negative impacts?
