Hi,
After upgrading to 2.6.15-20-686 (2.6.15-20.30), the problem doesn't appear any more. I've been succesfully the 686 kernel on my X31 without any hang / freeze, either under X or console. No reboots, no data corruption any more. Haven't tested 2.6.15-21 though.
Don't know what changed since 2.6.15-14 to resolve the problem, but i'm happy with 2.6.15-20. If you have a clue, i'm curious.

I suggest this bug be closed, but i can't seem to find how to do this myself... Sorry for the blindness. Best regards to ubuntu kernel team.
