[Bug 41289] installing the updates breaks the program

Description:
I have installed the 6.06 version twice now and each time as soon as I
apply the available updates and attempt to restart the machine per the
programs instruction, the machine will NOT boot.

If I wait an extremely long time it goes to some type of shell.   And at
that point I have NO idea as to what I am supposed to do.
