Public bug reported:

Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 kernel-image-2.6.15-21-386-di (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
I upgraded my Dapper Beta desktop last weekend, and the latest kernel, (Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.15-21-686 & 386),
.... will not boot!

Kernel starts loading

"Mounting the root file system..."

"Waiting for root file system..."

I wait for around 3+ minutes, then I'm dropped to a shell, with the error message:

"Unable to find volume group "Ubuntu""
"ALERT! /dev/mapper/Ubuntu-root does not exist. Dropping to shell!"

...which then starts BusyBox and leaves me at the prompt.

Error messages state that the Volume Group can't be found.

However, when I reboot and run the previous kernel, 2.6.15-20-686, no
problems with booting, at all. (OK, .... in the same spot, a 15 second
delay before mounting the file system, but then everything works)!
