Public bug reported:

Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 linux-image-2.6.15-21-686 (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
After updating my Dapper test system yesterday it fails to boot:

"root (hd1,0)
Filesystem type is reiserfs, partition type 0x83

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.15-21-686 root=/dev/sdb1 ro quit splash

initrd /boot/vminitrd.img-2.6.15-21-686

ALERT! /dev/sdb1 does not exist. Dropping to a shell."

In the BusyBox shell I can see that /dev/sda, /dev/sdb, /dev/sdc,
/dev/sdd and /dev/sda1 exist, but /dev/sda2, /dev/sdb1, /dev/sdb2,
/dev/sdb3, /dev/sdc1 and /dev/sdd1 are missing.

Same problem with Kernel 2.6.15-21-386.

Kernels 2.6.15-20-686 and -386 do boot without problems!

System is an older dual cpu SMP system (2 x 800 MHz Pentium 3)
