Public bug reported:

Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Needs Info

Description:
Just try and install it

The installer will not even run on my system unless APIC is disabled in
BIOS or the installer is run with the noapic nolapic options.

On my system, the Flight 6 installer bombs out at 58% of "select and
install packages" while "preparing to configure ubuntu-desktop." Alt +
F4'ing to the background process screen reveals that everytime it tries
to configure a TTF font package it complains about the default font
being missing and then does a "Regenerating font cache" after each one.
Furthermore, it eventually gets to a message that says:

main-menu[2085]: WARNING **: Configuring 'pkgsel' failed with error code
1

And the regular installer receives a red screen with the message:

"An installation step failed. You can try to run the failing item again
from the menu, or skip it and choose something else. The failing step
is: Select and install software"
