Ok, if adding hwcrypt=1 to driver options, this indicates that this is either a configuration or a driver issue. It seems to me that this is not a problem of the wpasupplicant package, since the debug log of wpasupplicant indicates a successful authentication.
I'm reassinging this bug to the kernel, since it seems that on your machine hwcrypt is off by default but should be on for wpa encryption.
