Public bug reported:
Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu)
Severity: Normal
Priority: (none set)
Status: Unconfirmed
Description:
On the live dapper cd (I've only tested dapper drake flight 5 live cd), the firmware for the zd1201 usb wireless stick driver is missing. The driver itself is present in the kernel.
Strangely, the firmware for the current gen chip (zd1211) is present.
Downloading the firmware from sourceforge
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/linux-
lc100020/zd1201-0.14-fw.tar.gz?download and installing it in
/lib/hotplug/firmware/<kernel>/ allows the driver to function correctly.
I'm not sure if the firmware is freely redistributable, but seeing that
the zd1211 firmware is incorporated, it shouldn't be a problem to
include this.
Don't know how the firmware should be packaged.
